چکیده

Obesity is an escalating health problem in developing countries. One to ten children worldwide are overweight a report showed by the International Task Force. Ghrelin, orexigenic peptide, has 28 amino acids, it considered greatest remarkable promotion last two decades for understanding physiological changes of action regulating food intake and hunger. Obestatin 23-amino acid peptide nearly connected ghrelin that secures from substitution splicing alike resort molecule, pre-proghrelin. The study designed assess level obestatin Iraqi obese its relation with other biochemical parameters. Ghrelin obeststin levels were measured sixty children; range their age was (5-16) years, this group compared 30 healthy state as control. Serum FBS, PPBS, also lipid profiles (TG, TC, HDL-c, LDL-c) determined studied groups. Calculation insulin resistance done using (HOMA-IR) Homeostasis Model assessment resistance. lower significant way subjects who have obesity comparison control group. Significantly, there high increase patients when This demonstrates raises low obesity, these hormones related insulin, association between oxidative stress. scales likely disturbed obesity.

Circulating Ghrelin Levels and Obestatin/Ghrelin Ratio as a Marker of Activity in Ulcerative Colitis

BACKGROUND/AIMS Ghrelin levels are known to increase in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC), but serum obestatin levels in UC patients are not well elucidated. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between serum ghrelin and obestatin levels and disease activity in UC patients. METHODS The serum ghrelin and obestatin levels were measured in 21 UC patients (12 with active dise...

Ghrelin and obestatin in human neuroendocrine tumors: expression and effect on obestatin levels after food intake.

BACKGROUND Ghrelin and obestatin are derived from the same peptide hormone precursor and are mainly produced by the gastric mucosa. Ghrelin is involved in many biological processes, whereas the physiological function of obestatin needs further investigation. The aims of the present study were to establish the incidence of ghrelin- and obestatin-immunoreactive cells in a comprehensive panel of h...

Effects of Combined Training on the Levels of Obestatin, Ghrelin, and Insulin Resistance in Overweight Women

Background: The present quasi-experimental and field research was conducted to evaluate the effect of combined exercises on the levels of obestatin and ghrelin in overweight women. Methods: The study subjects consisted of 34 overweight women with a Mean±SD age of 30.29±4.66 years, a Mean±SD height of 165.11±5.56 cm, a Mean±SD weight of 74.64±7.33 kg, a Mean±SD body mass index of 27.35±1.74 kg/...

Plasma obestatin levels in normal weight, obese and anorectic women.

Obestatin is a recently discovered peptide produced in the stomach, which was originally described to suppress food intake and decrease body weight in experimental animals. We investigated fasting plasma obestatin levels in normal weight, obese and anorectic women and associations of plasma obestatin levels with anthropometric and hormonal parameters. Hormonal (obestatin, ghrelin, leptin, insul...

Impact of Sustained Weight Loss Achieved through Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass or a Lifestyle Intervention on Ghrelin, Obestatin, and Ghrelin/Obestatin Ratio in Morbidly Obese Patients

BACKGROUND Appetite-regulating hormones seem to play an important role in weight loss after bariatric surgery. Less is known regarding long-term weight loss maintenance. The objective of the study was to evaluate ghrelin and obestatin levels following long-term weight loss achieved through bariatric surgery or a lifestyle intervention in morbidly obese patients. METHODS The study was cross-se...
